Building a bridge for children’s future

　　As we move into the 21^st Century, every one was amazed at the fast change of this world. Just look at this modern world of today. The seamless information highway has made the world a small global village. One’s business partner is as likely to be half way around the globe as just in the next building. We are living at a time when the East is meeting the West, at a time when cultures are merging into each other. China entered the WTO, will hold the Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing, sets up more and more joint-venture companies. China’s development and opening-up have already turned the country into one of the major global markets, which presents a great deal of opportunities for children’s future development.

　　However, how can children seize the opportunities? How can children grow up to be talents of globalization? As children’s parents, what can they do for children’s elementary education? The answer is to cultivate children’s ability of international communication as one important aspect of elementary education because we believe that the development needs desperately communication and English has become the world’s language. English is in fact a language of many worlds such as in the world of science and technology, business and enterprise, tourism, literature and art, and the Internet. People from all over the world use English to communicate and understand each other. Nowadays English even in many cases has achieved the status of a skill of life in china. More and more Chinese have come to realize that speaking English is the very first step to march into the development of globalization. We also believe that in the future speaking English in China will be a very common phenomenon which just like that young people nowadays receive a cake with candles from friends and relatives on their birthday. As we know, an estimated 380,000 people have studied abroad since the reform and opening-up policy was implemented 24 years ago. The figure will quickly surge since the global village. More important for People who study abroad is that they have to reach a high level of English. So studying English very well, children in their future not only can get a skill for hunting good jobs, but also really enjoy the human’s civilization, and can bring to their lives greater variety and greater vitality.

　　So children need a bridge to cross the gap of language.
